Farmers felicitated for exemplary work |

Port Blair, March 2: Four farmers of the islands were felicitated for their exemplary work in the field of agriculture in a function held on Feb 26, 2010 in New Delhi by Agriculture Minister, Shri Sharad Pawar. The Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Directorate of Agriculture has deputed these farmers for the award. They are a part of 101 enterprising men and women farmers from remote parts of the country, who by sheer dint of their innovation and hard work have been more than inspirational for others.
The Department of Agriculture & Cooperation has documented their success stories in shape of a Coffee Table Book titled “Harvest of Hope”. The success stories of the farmers of the islands namely Shri A. L. Swaminathan, R/o Calicut, Shri Karthick Das, R/o Manjeri, Shri M. Muthaiah, R/o Indra Nagar, Shri R. Pacchamuthu, R/o Calicut and Smt. Sabita Singh, R/o Gupta Para have been selected to be published in the book titled ‘Harvest of Hope’.
