Sahitya sammelan discuss on the need to preserve Savarkar’s literary works PDF Print E-mail

Port Blair, March 7: Speakers at the Swatantraveer Savarkar Sahitya Sammelan held in the conference hall of JNRM on Saturday 6th March 2010 stressed on the need for preservation of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s literary works and its induction in academic courses. The seminar was organized by All India Freedom Fighters’ Samiti in association with Swatantraveer Savarkar Sahitya Sammelan Samiti, Andaman on the topic, ‘The Modern India in the Literature of Veer Savarkar’. The prominent speakers included Shri Vijay Kuwalekar, Sr. Journalist and great philoshopher-writer, Dr. Harindra Srivastava, Shri Nilesh Gaikwad, Shri Suryakant Pathak and Prakash Jawadekar, BJP spokeperson. The Chairperson PBMC, Shri Jayakumaran Nair also graced the occasion.
 
Dr. Harindra Srivastava while delivering his speech during the seminar called the literary works of Savarkar as incredible and incomparable. In an adverse situation behind bar and amidst inhuman tortures, he could so beautifully wrote about 12000 pages on kalapani and on his own, besides about the struggle for freedom and the advent of freedom of motherland India, which no one would have done so, he said. There is no such a place of pilgrim like Port Blair, where our freedom fighters shed their blood for the sake of their motherland, he added.
Shri Vijay Kuwalekar, in his keynote address said that such important works, reflects his personality and his ability to express himself and his love for mother India. Such works need to be inscripted at least in these islands history, where he was imprisoned for more than 10 years, if not in the Indian history, he said and urged all members to work together and bring these literature to light.
 
In his welcome address, Shri Nilesh Gaikwad expressed gratitude to all the members for coming all the way from mainland to these islands.
 
Shri Suryakant Pathak of Grahak Peth, Pune was felicitated with the Sahitya Rama Award during the sammelan, which was attended by about 200 followers of Veer Savarkar from different parts of the country, such as Pune, Mumbai, Maharastra, Karnataka, Gujrat and Delhi.
