Apropos your news item : Group of Army men destroy vast stretch of corals at Elephant Beach, Havelock, if anything of that sort happened, the act is too good to be tolerated. Corals are one of the most sensitive members of the costal environment. It’s shocking to learn that a bunch of ill-mannered army personnel destroyed a stretch of coral reef which would otherwise require hundreds of years for a coral colony to establish itself.
I condemn the act and call upon the authorities both from the civil administration and the uniformed counterpart to order immediate inquiry into the incident and those found guilty should be handed over their share of punishment. This will set precedence so that no one ever dares to destroy the pristine natural heritage of these Islands, nor should anyone be allowed to play with the nature for his own pleasure.
We look upon the uniformed personnel as a role model to emulate. I cannot believe such an act has been performed by the uniformed personnel, Kindly clear the air.
