Port Blair, Aug. 8: The state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Shri G Paramasivam has resigned from his post in the party and also from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect.
In a letter to Shri Mohan, State President, BJP a copy of which was marked to the All India National President, BJP Shri Nitin Gadgari, the Vice President wrote, “I am resigning from the post of Vice President, State Committee and Primary membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party”.
Shri Paramasivam further wrote that the fact is that the BJP was formed in these islands on 7th April 1989 due to the untiring efforts of Shri B.P. Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament. The BJP for the first time in these islands had won the Lok Sabha election in the year 1999 with thumping majority. It is also a fact that the BJP had for the first time in these islands won a good number of seats in the Municipal elections and the Panchayat elections held in the year 2000".
I completed my graduation from JNRM in 1993. Soon after my graduation I joined the BJP and had held key posts in the party. I had worked sincerely for the party with entire satisfaction of my senior leaders, without giving them a chance of any allegation.
I had also contested for the Municipal elections from Ward No. 16 in the year 2000 and had won. I was then elected as the Chairperson of the Municipal Council and with this I became the first Chairperson of the BJP.
Shri Vishal Jolly had won in the Zilla Parishad election in the year 2000 and was elected as the up-Adhyaksh. In the year 2001 he too became the first Adhyaksh of the Zilla Parishad. It all happened due to the untiring efforts of Shri BP Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament. But Shri Vishal Jolly after becoming the Adhyaksh had misused his official position and tried to rule the Zilla Parishad in Hitler style.
Shri Vishal Jolly in the year 2007 was elected as the State President of the BJP and after assuming the charge of the President, he once again misused his powers by constituting the state committee in pick and choose manner. He also threw out sincere, dedicated, loyal and honest workers from the party. He wanted to contest for the Lok Sabha elections, for which he started preparing himself since the time he became the State President.
Shri Jolly also tried his level best of becoming the official candidate for the MP Election but could not succeed as the majority of BJP workers who were sincere and dedicated stood with BP Ray.
The party workers still had a ray of hope that you would organize the party in a good manner and stop groupism within the party. But all hopes were shattered as you yourself started to dance with the tune of Shri Vishal Jolly and Shri Srepad Desh Pandey.
For the above mentioned reasons and many more reasons that led to the destruction of the party, I have decided to resign, Paramasivam added.
