Two Police Officers get President’s Medal

Port Blair, Aug 17: Two Assistant Commandants of IRBn, S/Shri George Lalu and B Saigal have been awarded with President Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Independence Day 2010 in recognition of their dedication and outstanding performance in their service.
Shri George Lalu joined the A&N Police as a Sub-Inspector in 1983. During his posting in Mayabunder, he apprehended 75 Burmese poachers from the deep jungle of Sound Island, the biggest operation against foreign poachers. As the Chief Fire Officer, Shri Lalu averted a major fire accident at midnight in congested residential and shopping area in Aberdeen Bazaar by his diligent command in 2007.
Shri Saigal joined A&N Police as Sub-Inspector in 1983. As CI, Nancowry in 1998 he ventured into rough sea in a small dinghy with 5 police personnel in search of poachers and intercepted 12 foreign boats and apprehended some of the foreign poachers. During 1999, he arrested 85 crew members of MV Nicobar and thwarted an attempt to cause interruption in Shipping Services.
