Training for Presiding, Polling Officers held |

Port Blair, Aug. 25: A training programme on Election for Presiding and Polling Officers (PPOs) of Ferrargunj Tehsil for the ensuing Panchayat and Municipal Elections was conducted in Dr. B R Ambedkar Auditorium here today in which ROs, AROs and PPOs of the area were present. The objective of the training was to acquaint the officials of the poll process as well as their duties and responsibilities during the conduct of elections. During the training programme, the PPOs were also imparted hands on training on ballot boxes and other election materials to be used during the election.
The Director of Panchayat and Municipal Elections, Shri S N Jha briefed PPOs of their, duties and responsibilities while conducting the election. They are the main functionaries of the election and must equip themselves with election process, so as to conduct the election without difficulty. They were also advised to go through the handbooks and manuals provided to them to enhance their knowledge about election process.
A power point presentation on procedure to be adopted during polling was also held during the training session. At the same time, manual demonstration on preparation, opening, closing and sealing of ballot boxes was also conducted during the training programme.
