Efforts intensified to Control Vector Borne Diseases in South Andaman PDF Print E-mail

Port Blair, Sept 5: Teams from the NVBDCP Unit of Directorate of Health Services are carrying out the activities for pyrethrum spray & fogging, DDT indoor spray as well as anti-larval measures using ABATE to control vector borne diseases in South Andaman area.
 
During their house to house visits, the NVBDCP Unit team will check all water collections to find out the larva and to take immediate measures to eliminate breeding pockets/ compartments in the water holding containers/ articles like – over head tanks, broken & discarded drums, tins, unused tyres and the flower pots (kept in the open air) polythene bags, coconut shells, broken glasses, disposable cups, polythene bags unused water tanks etc. The team will also impart health education to the general public during their house visit.
 
Accordingly, the area to be visited by this squad on Monday are School Line, Ranchi Basthi, Jawahar Colony, Lamba Line, Citizen Colony upto Dairy Farm junction, Water Tank, Ranchi Tikery, CPWD Colony, Lal Bijan, Dairy Farm, PS Mill Dairy Farm area, Badabijan Dairy Farm, UHC, and Japan Road.
 
The areas to be covered on Tuesday are Junglighat old CCS, AHW Colony, Deen Street, VIP Road, Ajantha Mess, Link Road, NABARD Colony, Goalghat, Middle Point, Councilor Colony, Sanitary Mazdoors Colony, Prem Nagar, Prem Nagar Junction to Carmel School, Phoenix Bay Masjid area. On Wednesday areas of Pongychaung, DAG Colony, Central School, Quarry Hill, Phoenix Bay, NK Hotel, Fisheries Jetty, Delianipur, Buniyadabad, AIR Colony, Anarkali, Megapode, Panipath Road, Lilly Pur, Shahjeevan Colony Haddo. On Thursday, Chakkargaon, Nayagaon Doctors Colony, Shadipur, Mazar Pahad, Bahadur Line, Police Line, Machi Line, South Point, upto Govt. Press will be covered . On Friday RGT Road upto RK Mission, Dilthaman Road, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Dollygunj, New Pahar Gaon, Atlanta Point, Aberdeen Bazaar, old Municipal, Minnie Bay, old Pahargaon will be visited by the squad. On Saturday, the squad will visit Babu Line, Round Basthi, Dignabad, Sisty Nagar, Marin Hill, Mohanpura, Gandhi Market, Raj Niwas, VIP area, Supply Line and Fire Brigade area.
