Soalbay Road Issue Raised in Parliament

Port Blair, Jan. 23: The Member of ParliamentShri B.P. Ray had raised the matter regarding non construction of rural road in village Shoalbay 19, South Andaman in Parliament on 2/12/.2011. He wanted to know the year in which Shoal Bay-19 village was established, and that whether the MP has written a letter to Lt. Governor on 14/10/2009 in the matter and action thereof.
The MP also wanted to know whether proposal for environment clearance has been forwarded to the Ministry and the time frame by which the road is likely to be completed.
In reply, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj Shri. V. Kishore Chandra Deo informed Shri Ray that the Shoal Bay-19 village was established during 1951. The APWD has been directed to take up the road work. Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) study has been completed. Proposal for forest and environment clearance has not been forwarded to the Ministry so far and hence the time frame for completion of the work cannot be determined.
