SBS Tyagi Awarded With President’s Police Medal for his Distinguished Service PDF Print E-mail

Port Blair, Jan. 27: The Superintendent of Police, South Andaman Districts, Shri SBS Tyagi, IPS has been awarded the coveted President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service by Her Excellency the president of India on the eve of the Republic Day 2012. Shri Tyagi has won this prestigious medal for rendering commendable service to the nation in his 28-yesr long carder in Police.

Shri SBS Tyagi joined the Delhi Police as an Asst. Commissioner of Police in 1984 and worked in various sub-divisions, Security and Traffic. After his promotion in 1996, he worked as the Addl. DCP in two districts of Delhi and as DCP/Traffic (VIP). He was also the DCP/ Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi and looked after the security of the President of India.

Shri Tyagi joined the A&N Police in August 2009 as Commandant of the Reserve Battalion (IRBn) and also looked after the charges of SP (Armed Police) and Principal, Police Training School. He has been the South Andaman District Superintendent of Police from October 2010 onwards. He is also in charge of VIP security, coastal security and Traffic.

Among his commendable works figure the fair and transparent recruitment of 506 Police Constables and the promotion test for Head Constables, supervision of the Special Investigation Team for the sensitive CBSE Question paper leakage case and the high profile Explosive case. As the SP/in charge of the Traffic, he has ensured the streamlining of the ever burgeoning vehicular traffic in Port Blair area and the enforcement of traffic rules. Under him, the PMF and the local police have made significant achievements in anti-poaching operations.

Shri SBS Tyagi had earlier been awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the year 2006. The Ministry of Home Affairs has specifically instructed that this information be given wide publicity.
