Port Blair, April 5: All the owner of the fishing vessels; be it mechanized, motorized or traditional have to apply for grant / renewal of fishing licence for fishing in the Territorial Waters of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the Authorized Officers of respective zones, announced the Director of Fisheries in a press release today. “No fishing vessel shall undertake any kind of fishing activity without a valid fishing license”.
The Asstt. Director of Fisheries, South Andaman will be the ‘authorized officer’ within the jurisdiction of South Andaman (Port Blair, Havelock, Neil Island & Little Andaman) covering all fish landing centres in these areas while Asstt. Director of Fisheries, North & Middle Andaman is the authorized officer within the jurisdiction of North & Middle Andaman (Kadamtala, Rangat, Billiground, Mayabunder and Diglipur) and covers all fish landing centres of these areas.
 
Similarly, the Asstt. Director of Fisheries, Nicobar is the authorized officer within the jurisdiction of Nicobar district (Car Nicobar, Nancowry, Katchal, Teressa & Campbell Bay). All fish landing centres in Nicobar District are covered under this zone the Director of Fisheries added.
