Port Blair, Feb. 8: The Andaman & Nicobar Police has finally identified the policeman watching the Jarawa girls dance, which was flashed out in the print and electronic media earlier this week.

A case was registered by the Police soon after the video was brought to their notice and all efforts were made to identify the Jarawa women and the policeman appearing in the video. The policeman seen sitting on the road is PC Claton, informed the Superintendent of Police, Shri SBS Tyagi today.

“On perusal of the video showing PC Claton, it is clearly seen that he is not preventing the recording. He has been placed under suspension for dereliction in the discharge of his duties. A departmental enquiry has also been initiated against him”, the SP said.

“We are putting in vigorous efforts to identify the other person who was video filming the protected Jarawa tribe in the said video”, Tyagi added.
